1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information:
- Contact information (phone number or email address)
- The addresses you register to receive alerts for
- Alert delivery and subscription preferences (email, text, which plan)
- Usage data and analytics
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
- Match public 911 dispatch data to your registered addresses and alert you when there's a match
- Maintain and improve the ExpectFire service
- Send important updates about your account
- Communicate with you about the service
3. SMS / Text Messaging
We send SMS text messages for two purposes only:
- Verification codes: we send a one-time verification code by SMS to your phone number to sign in or verify your account.
- Dispatch alerts: we send an SMS when a 911 dispatch call is matched to your registered property address, so you can be notified your home may be affected by an emergency response. This is free and does not require a paid plan.
We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.
- Message frequency: one message per sign-in/verification attempt, and one message per matched dispatch event. Frequency for dispatch alerts depends on real 911 call activity near your registered address and is not a fixed schedule
- Message and data rates may apply
- Your phone number is used solely to deliver these messages and is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes
- You can reply STOP to any text to stop receiving SMS messages at any time, reply HELP for help, or disable text alerts in your account settings. Since phone number is also your sign-in credential, permanently removing it from your account may require contacting us at paul@expectfire.com to switch your account to email sign-in first
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We may share information with:
- A co-owner you invite to an address: co-owners you add get access to that address's alert settings. Adding a co-owner does not share your other registered addresses or your account's consent or subscription details with them
- Service providers who help us operate the platform, including our dispatch-data, email, SMS, and payment providers
- Law enforcement when required by law
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/SSL)
- Secure cloud storage with access controls
- Regular security audits and updates
- Authentication and authorization controls
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal information
- Update or correct your information
- Delete your account and data
- Withdraw consent for data sharing
- Export your data
